His mother had three children from a previous relationship named Neil Siegel, Howard Siegel, and Rachel Siegel. Though Black is currently an atheist, he was raised Jewish and attended Hebrew school.
Growing up, he attended the Poseidon School, which is a private secondary school designed for students struggling in the traditional school system. After he was enrolled at the Crossroads School, where he thrived in drama.
